The Qur’an Department was established in 1988 with the following objectives:
  • – Teaching Arabic Language to non-Arabs
  • – Teaching tajweed (Qur’an recitation) both theoretically and practically in addition to other Qur’anic sciences to Arabs and non-Arabs.
  • – Establishing curricula for Qur’an recitation and memorization.
  • – Setting standards for grading Qur’an students and organizing final examinations for all the centers affiliated with the Ministry of Justice and Islamic Affairs.
  • – Revising the written text of Qur’an copies as well as audio copies to guarantee that all copies agree with the original text of the Qur’an.
  • – Judging competitors in different Qur’an competitions.
  • – Organizing workshops and training courses for Qur’an teachers.
  • – Organizing workshops, training courses and examinations for imams and muazzins.
